Dear reader,
Did you know that watching porn can make you go blind?
Are you able to read this?
Studies show that people exposed to excessive amounts of pornography are more likely to lose their sight…
I’m kidding!
Or maybe I’m not!?
Although the opening statement may not be true, I bet it makes you question whether the number of hours you’ve spent watching porn or sexually explicit content has had an effect on you like that.
Well, imagine what it had done for your brain!
The damage of viewing this type of material for the number of hours you probably have will definitely have affected your mind - porn rewires your brain!
It changes the way you think about sex
How you interact with the opposite sex.
How you react to seeing sexual content, however innocent.
And how you view the opposite sex.
You may think I’m being overdramatic but there is a lot of evidence to back up this claim.
Ted Bundy
I recently watched the movie: Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and the subsequent Ted Bundy confessions series on Netflix.
The man was evil and what he did was beyond horrific.
But interestingly, he linked his horrific crimes to watching pornography and looking at nudie magazines at a young age - something that he attributes to his manifestation into the monster he became.
Now, some might say that he was trying to deflect from his crimes and pass the blame onto something else, but you can see and hear the truth in his statement.
In the above clip, Bundy says he doesn’t actually blame porn for his crimes but he discusses how it was instrumental in his progression from casual porn user to violent abuser/killer.
There is another clip, which I couldn’t find, in which Bundy reveals that the majority of people in prison were hooked on porn.
You may not see the link from watching porn to doing the deplorable things that Bundy did because you’re not a psychotic killer, but the things he discussed here - progression from softcore to hardcore - may sound familiar.
Do you ever question your porn use?
Do you ever feel like it is taking over your life?
Do you ever experience withdrawals from not watching it?
Maybe you know you have a problem?
Maybe it’s time to quit watching it.
You need to start allowing your brain to recover.
You need to start rewiring your brain again and undo the damage you've done.
You need to take every precaution necessary in order to avoid relapsing back into your old ways.
You need to understand the damage porn has done to your mind, body and soul, and regain control of your life.
You need to stop wasting your time & energy on porn and (re)learn how to master your sexual energy.
That time is NOW.
Conclusion
So watching porn may not make you go blind, but it may make you ask some questions about yourself.
Do you look in the mirror after watching porn and question what you're doing?
Why you are watching something that isn't really real?
Why you are wasting your time on something that doesn't really give you real pleasure?
Why you are struggling to function in the real world because you've become so reliant on these digital distractions?
Ted Bundy took his pornography use to the extreme but it definitely rewired his brain.
Sadly, it is doing the same to you - you just can't see it yet.
You are too obsessed with the digital dopamine hits to really register the link between how you're really feeling and the destruction viewing this material is doing to you.
You are being torn apart by how you want to act and how porn is making you act.
You know your viewing habits are not who you really are but you are struggling to tear yourself away because you're addicted to the fake pleasure/dopamine.
You may not think there is a way out, but there is.
You may not think you can quit watching porn, but you can.
You may not think you can live without porn, but you definitely can.
You just need to take the necessary steps to eradicate it from your life.
You just need to realise that your porn use is destroying who you really are and you just need to regain control of your life's mission & purpose.
You just need to do something about it.
You need to take back control.
Take care,
Roscoe
