I missed posting Mindset Monday yesterday so I thought I’d release a Token Tuesday edition instead, as my means of an apology.
I’ve recently started a new job and I’ve been spending a lot of time learning the ropes & fully immersing myself in that, so until I work out a suitable routine, the schedule may be a little different for a couple of weeks,
But I still aim to connect with you whenever, however I can.

I titled this piece, Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff, because I find it’s something we could all do with being reminded of, from time to time.
Off the deep end
It's so easy to lose control over the big things in life.
Losing a loved one, getting fired from a job, breaking up with your spouse.
Read: It's Coming Home…
These things would warrant a big reaction. These things would be seen as something you'd be within your rights to let get to you.
In fact, society almost encourages you to have a breakdown or outrage about something nowadays.
People would think you were justified if you went off the deep end, got blackout drunk and went on a drug-fuelled party bender.
I guess you have an excuse.
Well, what about your reactions to the smaller stuff…

Don't sweat the small stuff
How do you react when you spill your drink?
What about when you drop your phone?
How about when Twitter hates you?
OK, that last one is for me.
I’ve recently started a week off of Twitter because I could feel my anger towards the platform become disproportionate to the severity of the situation.
The situation, as clearheaded clarity has taught me, is not severe in the slightest. But that slight annoyance that the new algorithmic changes brought me, is the small stuff I’m talking about.
I’m sure you can relate to the small stuff you sweat. I’m sure you can relate to how you feel more aggrieved by the small things and maybe even a little calmer when the big things happen.
That’s because we’ve been taught how to deal with the big things:
Get drunk, get high, sleep around, talk to a counsellor, go travelling.
The small stuff is a little different though.
We’ve not really been showed how to deal with those things, as funny as that sounds.
But what I’ve found is that, if you’re operating from a place where you have a bulletproof mindset (yes, I’ve linked a book here, because it’s really helped me deal with the issues I’m talking about), then you are less likely to overreact to the small things.
Also, getting enough good rest and sleep is key.
Proper rest
When it comes to overreacting to things that you know you shouldn’t, it is usually down to lack of sleep. It is in my case anyway.
How are you going to keep things in perspective if your mind is foggy from lack of sleep?
Now, staying busy is a good thing for those who are struggling to overcome destructive habits.
Stacking up positive actions. Building positive routines. Being positive.
But if you don't make sure you're getting enough sleep, then nothing unravels positive changes, and makes you react poorly to the smallest things, quicker than sleep deprivation.
Am I right?
